Getting started

The Whali dashboard explained

How the Whali dashboard works: the personalised Hiring now companies strip, the Get started checklist and its bonus credits, the activity heatmap, your outreach pipeline, recent leads and follow-ups.

Last updated 27 August 2026 · 0:35 video

The Dashboard is your outreach control room. It shows companies hiring right now for you, what to do next, how active you have been, where every lead sits in your pipeline, the contacts you saved most recently, and the follow-ups queued to send. Everything refreshes as you work.

What is the Hiring now strip?

Hiring now is the row of company tiles at the top of the Dashboard: real firms from the Job board with live openings, refreshed hourly and rotated daily. Each tile shows the company, how many relevant roles it has open, a reason badge such as "Closes in 3d" or "4 new today", and a recent role you can open directly. Clicking a company opens its profile with every live role, and you can keep scrolling right through every hiring company in your scope.

The header is a sentence you can edit: "Hiring (interns) in (Finance) in (London)". Each word in a pill is clickable and filters the strip: a chosen sector or programme shows only matching companies, and if nothing matches you get an honest empty state with a reset button rather than unrelated firms.

PillHow it is chosen for youOptions

Picking a location, sector or scheme on the Job board updates the strip too, so the Dashboard always mirrors where you are actually looking. Firms you follow on the Job board always appear first.

What is the Get started checklist?

Get started is the six step setup card in the top left of the Dashboard. Each step pays one off bonus credits into your current week's balance the first time you complete it, and the card header tracks the running total, for example "40 of 70 credits earned". Every step links straight to the page that completes it.

StepBonus credits

Draft your first email15

Rewards are paid once per account, so a step that has already paid shows "Claimed" rather than offering the bonus again. Once all six are done the card is replaced by Outreach playbook, a short list of guides on timing, lead lists, subject lines and follow-ups.

How do I read the activity heatmap?

Activity is a year of daily squares, one column per week, with the newest week on the right. Shading comes from the credits you spent that day, running from Less to More on the legend under the grid. Hover any square to see the credit total for that date plus Leads added, Drafts created, Emails sent and Replies received.

What does the outreach pipeline show?

Outreach pipeline sits under the heatmap and tracks four stages: Leads, Drafted, Sent and Replied. The percentage between each pair of stages shows how many carried through, so you can see whether you are losing momentum at drafting, at sending or at replies. Every stage is clickable and opens the matching list.

Before your first search the pipeline reads "Your pipeline fills in as you find leads, draft, and send."

Where do I see recent leads and upcoming follow-ups?

Two cards close the page. Recent Leads lists the last six contacts you saved, with their company and when you added them, and View all opens My Leads. Pending Follow-ups lists the next six scheduled follow-ups with the send date and the follow-up number, and Manage opens your follow-up queue and settings.

Follow-ups are scheduled automatically when you send an email, and neither sending nor follow-ups cost credits, so nothing in these two cards spends from your balance.

FAQ

Do the bonus credits from the setup checklist expire?
They are added to your current week's balance. Credits reset every Monday and do not roll over, so it is worth using them in the week you earn them. Each step pays once per account.
Why has my Get started card disappeared?
It swaps to the Outreach playbook card as soon as all six steps are complete. If a step stops being true later, for example you delete your only draft, the checklist comes back, but steps already paid show as Claimed.
Why is a day blank on the heatmap when I sent emails that day?
Shading is based on credits spent, and sending is free. Hover the square and you will still see Emails sent and Replies received counted in the tooltip.
